Tutored Learning

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am an experienced primary school teacher. I gained my PGCE in Primary Education at the University of York St. John after graduating from Liverpool University. While that seems a lifetime ago now, I have remained in the classroom ever since.

The past twelve years have seen me teaching Year 5 and Year 6, guiding them through Key Stage 2 SATs and preparing them for secondary school. I thoroughly enjoy my job and the rewards it brings when I can support pupils in making progress and reaching their potential, both academically and as young people.

Alongside my classroom work, I am now excited to start my journey into private tutoring. I have been fortunate to teach small sized classes so am used to tailoring and adapting content to support individual and small group needs; in this way, I can address misconceptions, consolidate and develop understanding as well as stretch and extend learning for more able students.

My style of teaching is calm, understanding and encouraging. I aim for learners to enjoy lessons and develop their own sense of achievement and self-belief.

My goal as a private tutor is to help students, at whatever academic level, to feel confident and secure in their knowledge and understanding; giving them strategies to help them make progress and succeed.
